July 13, 2011 was added as another black day in the history of India with three blasts shaking the commercial capital of India, Mumbai. Again bodies were scattered and left mutilated by the enemies of the nation working from within and outside India. There were views circulating in media as well as in civil society that it was done to mark the birthday of Ajmal Kasab, lone survivor of 26/11 attacks on Mumbai, while another view which was also making rounds was that it was done to mark fifth anniversary of July 11,2006 blasts in Mumbai’s local trains. Why is this thing becoming so regular, that in our country attempts are made to celebrate anniversaries for the death of many lives by again causing death of many more innocent lives? Where are we heading? Why we are not secured? Why are these anti-social forces becoming stronger & stronger?
India is getting stronger in terms of economy as large FDI is coming and our economy is developing in terms of economic power. People are talking about India becoming a developed nation in a few years to come. But what is more important is that why we forget all such blasts and terrorist activities which are also growing on the same pace like the economy. Do we forget about it or tend to ignore it? Whatever the answer is, the results are the same. Are we becoming powerless to defend ourselves and dependence on the system is not helping us to get out of this problem as we are regularly facing innocent lives being lost at the hands of merciless killers. The way terrorists like Ajmal Kasab are dealt in India makes the people more frustrated as we cannot do anything because it is the job of the administration to secure the citizens. Ajmal Kasab is still alive and many more innocent who didn’t do any wrong to this country died while they were out on road for some work or for earning a livelihood. There are many more, like Afzal Guru who are living securely and enjoying their lives while watching many people of this country losing the battle of life against terrorism.
When we talk of USA after 9/11 their approach towards terrorism changed and not a single terrorism related issue could harm the lives in USA. USA also made sure that it will not let anything happen in any place in the world which would affect the USA as well as its citizens. Will we ever have such commitment and aggression towards terrorism as shown by America resulting into war of Afghanistan, Iraq leading to killing of Osama Bin Laden after 10 years. America made their system foolproof but what have we done? Will we ever change?
I think the time has come when Indians as well as Indian intelligence should wake up. The police which are securing the politicians should come out of its veil and devise a plan so that we don’t have to see all such killings in future. The citizens should ask for answers as well as action on the part of Indian intelligence agencies. What has been done post 26/11 in India to ensure the security of citizens? Many things must be existing in the police books regarding the strategy devised to avoid such killing but every now & then these strategies have appeared to fail after every bombing. Why do these plots of militants don’t come across the intelligence & police radars and they miss it. We need to build anti terror infrastructure in India as till now it has appeared to be inadequate at the time of terrorist activities. Simple example, police reaching late to such spots. We have to take much hard measures so that the terrorists don’t get a chance to operate and repeat such activities. The environment in India is favoring the terrorist activities as there are many loop holes in the whole working mechanism as well as the system. We need to start today, as all citizens are tired, because if not today then there will be no tomorrow.
